The Free State of Bavaria
Musical life in the Free State of Bavaria encompasses a broad range of activities, from folklore and amateur music-making to world-class symphony orchestras. From the perspective of the Bavarian State Ministry of Education and Culture, Science and the Arts, one of these leading ensembles is the Munich Symphony Orchestra, a non-government-run classical orchestra with a strong position in the concert life of Munich, Bavaria and beyond. For more than 70 years, the Munich Symphony Orchestra has fulfilled many goals in the Bavaria’s musical life, from music education to highest culture. One highly welcome fact is that the orchestra performs regularly in various Bavarian cities, ensuring a high level of musical offerings in rural areas as well. The Bavarian State Ministry of Education and Culture, Science and the Arts is pleased to support the Munich Symphony Orchestra with an annual grant, making a sustainable contribution to securing and developing this meaningful aspect of cultural life in the Free State of Bavaria.

The District of Upper Bavaria
Maintaining tradition and creating new listening experiences – for the Munich Symphony Orchestra, that is no contradiction. The orchestra has won its audience’s hearts with its classical-romantic repertoire as well as film scores and other new formats. It welcomes renowned soloists as partners on stage, but also rising young stars of the classical music scene. The District of Upper Bavaria has supported the work of the Munich Symphony Orchestra for many years through its cultural funding. I wish the orchestra under its conductor Kevin John Edusei lasting success.
